Das lernte ich, als ich, um zum Kaffee etwas zu lesen, zuf\u00e4llig Canto XX aufschlug. Daraus nun ein paar Passagen. Freiburg kommt nicht oft in der Weltliteratur vor, aber Pound war mal bei <em>manipogo<\/em> mit einem <a href=\"https:\/\/manipogo.de\/?p=12615\" target=\"_blank\">Zitat aus Canto XXVI.<\/a> <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Zu Pound, der von 1885 bis 1972 lebte, muss man freilich sagen, dass er von 1925 bis 1945, in Rapallo lebend, Mussolini unterst\u00fctzte und sich fanatisch antisemitisch und faschistisch geb\u00e4rdete. Nach dem Krieg wurde er angeklagt und entkam der Todesstrafe, weil er als geisteskrank bezeichnet wurde. 12 Jahre verbrachte er in einer Heilanstalt in Washington D.C. Dann zog er nach Meran auf eine Burg und sich v\u00f6llig zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n<p>Aber seine Cantos sind und bleiben grandios, weil er sich bei der Vergangenheit bedient und heraussch\u00fcrft, was bleibt und was vergeht. THE PERSONNEL CHANGES schreibt er. Das ist machmal der einzige Wechsel.<\/p>\n<p>Sound slender, quasi tinnula \u2026 Der erste Abschnitt zitiert Propertius und Ovid. Dann aber:<\/p>\n<p><em>The boughs are not more fresh<br \/>\nwhere the almond shoots<br \/>\ntake their March green.<br \/>\nAnd that year I went up to Freiburg,<br \/>\nAnd Remert had said: \u203aNobody, no, nobody<br \/>\nKnows anything about Proven\u00e7al, or if there is anybody,<br \/>\nIt\u2019s old L\u00e9vy.\u2039<br \/>\nAnd so I went up to Freiburg,<br \/>\nAnd the vacation was just beginning,<br \/>\nThe students getting off for the summer,<br \/>\nFreiburg im Breisgau,<br \/>\nAnd everything clean, seeming clean, after Italy. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Kann man gut verstehen, da muss man nicht viel \u00fcbersetzen. M\u00e4rz, Osterferien, die Studenten reisen ab und Freiburg ist sauber (wie heute), vor allem nach Italien.<\/p>\n<p><em>And I went to old L\u00e9vy, and it was by then 6:30<br \/>\nin the evening, and he tailed half way across Freiburg<br \/>\nbefore dinner, to see the two strips of copy,<br \/>\nArnaut\u2019s, settant\u2019uno R, superior [Ambrosiana]<br \/>\nNot that I could sing him the music.<br \/>\nAnd he said: \u203aNow is there anything I can tell you?\u2039<br \/>\nAnd I said: \u203aI dunno, sir,\u2039 or<br \/>\n\u203aYes, Doctor, what do they mean by noidgandres?\u2039<br \/>\nAnd he said: \u203aNoigandres! NOIgandres!<br \/>\n\u203aYou know for seex mon\u2019s of my life<br \/>\n\u2018Effery night when I go to bett, I say to myself:<br \/>\n\u203aNoigandres, eh, noigandres,<br \/>\n\u203aNow what the DEFFIL can that mean?\u2039<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Das ist lustig, wie L\u00e9vy englisch spricht, es ist ein Deutsch-Englisch, effery sagt er f\u00fcr every und DEFFIL f\u00fcr devil, aber auch er wei\u00df nicht, was noigandres bedeutet. \u00a0Dann zieht Pound mit seinem Canto los, f\u00fcnf weitere Seiten lang, bet\u00f6rendes Landschafts- und Stimmungsgeschildere, aber ohne btr\u00e4chtliche Kenntnisse \u00fcber sp\u00e4tmittelalterlicher Recken ist man da aufgeschmissen, irgendwie geht es um das Rolandslied und vielleicht Chr\u00e9tien de Troyes, Versepen aus dem 12. Jahrhundert, auf Proven\u00e7alish verfasst. Zwischendurch dann die Zeilen<\/p>\n<p><em>Duccio, Agostino; e l\u2019olors \u2015<br \/>\nThe smell of that place \u2015 d\u2019enoi ganres.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Da ist es. Der Geruch, der Duft jener St\u00e4tte, der Wind \u00fcber \u00d6lb\u00e4umen pinien-gew\u00fcrzt, Nachtigallen und Hauch im unteren Astwerk der Zedern.
