Da musste mir nat\u00fcrlich die vierte Rockpalast-Nacht in der Essener Gruga-Halle einfallen, 1979. Johnny Winter war 35, aber irgendwie alterslos. Ich war 22 Jahre alt und hatte ein Dutzend Freundinnen und Freunde einmgeladen, wir hockten im Kellerzimmer auf dem Boden, tranken und swingten mit der Musik.<\/p>\n<p>Nach der J.-Geils-Band und Patti Smith kam Johnny Winter, ziemlich sp\u00e4t, so um f\u00fcnf Uhr. Er spielte eine Stunde, bis es drau\u00dfen tagte, und w\u00e4hrend er noch spielte, machte ich ein Fenster auf und l\u00fcftete. Wei\u00df ich noch. Gerade jetzt, \u00a0beim Schreiben, h\u00f6re (und sehe) ich den <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymotion.com\/video\/x5sz4b4\" target=\"_blank\">Mitschnitt von damals<\/a>. Unvergessen. Johnny trug ein Leder-K\u00e4ppi auf seinen langen wei\u00dfen Haaren, war schlaksig und zelebrierte seine Kunst als bester wei\u00dfer Blues-Gitarrist. Es wollte kein Ende nehmen, und zwischendurch stie\u00df er immer ein kehliges \u00bbYeah\u00ab aus, auch das bleibt einem im Geh\u00f6r.<\/p>\n<p>Wie er damals <em>Messin\u2018 With the Kids<\/em> ansagte, in seinem dumpfen Texas-Slang mit den <em>glottal stops<\/em>! \u00bbThank you. Yeah, here we go, one other borrow, last album White and Hot and Blue, this is one that Junior Wells did, called Messin\u2018 With the Kids. \u2212 One, two, three, four!\u00ab Call it how you wanna, I call it messin\u2019 with the kids! Der Bass pr\u00e4zise, seine Gitarre jault dr\u00fcber, variiert und umspielt das Thema in den h\u00f6chsten T\u00f6nen.<\/p>\n<p>Heute versteht das vielleicht keiner mehr, aber das l\u00e4uft runter, kann auch ewig weitergehen, der Mitschnitt dauert eine Stunde, w\u00e4hrend ich gedacht hatte, Johnny habe drei Stunden gespielt. \u00bbYou\u2019re ready Jon? Anfang der 1970-er Jahre hatte er wegen Heroin-Sucht zwei Jahre aussetzen m\u00fcssen. \u00bbIf there wouldn&#8217;t be the Blues, there wouldn&#8217;t be the Rock &#8217;n&#8217;Roll\u00ab, sagte Johnny vor den <em>Mississippi Delta People<\/em>, und recht hat er.<\/p>\n<p>Durch den Rockpalast-Auftritt wurde Johnny Winter in ganz Europa bekannt. Am 12. Mai 2007 spielte er nochmal Rockpalast, in Bonn, und er kam nach Rick Derringer und der Band seines Bruders Edgar Winter auf die B\u00fchne. Und 2012 tourte er durch Deutschland. Geboren wurde Johnny Winter am 23.
