August, der Feiertag <em>Ferragosto<\/em> oder Maria Himmelfahrt, ist traditionell der Kulminationspunkt des Sommers in Italien. Aus purem Masochismus (oder Tr\u00e4gheit) bin ich im August manchmal in Rom geblieben und habe den Tag im Viertel erlebt, wo an jedem zweiten Gesch\u00e4ft ein handgeschriebener Zettel hing, auf dem vermutlich stand <em>Chiuso per ferie \/ ritorno 1 settembre. <\/em>Du h\u00e4ltst die Stellung.\u00a0 <!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Die lange Stra\u00dfe unten vor dem Haus bleibt leer. Viele freie Parkpl\u00e4tze. Staubige Hitze. Beim Radfahren hast du wenigstens Fahrtwind: Hei\u00dfer Monsun weht dich an \u00fcber den verbrannten Rasenfl\u00e4chen des Parks Villa Doria Pamphili. Alles flimmert, du h\u00e4ltst an einer Ampel N\u00e4he Engelsburg. Die Welt, die Rom ist, scheint all ihre Farbe verloren zu haben, und du selber f\u00fchlst dich aufgerieben und ausgebrannt. Alles in dir ist blass, und \u00fcberhaupt: Wo wollte ich gleich wieder hin? Vermutlich ins Goethe-Institut.\u00a0Am besten legst du dich irgendwo hin. <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<dl class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 550px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/manipogo.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/infernetto.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-179\" title=\"infernetto\" src=\"https:\/\/manipogo.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/infernetto.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/manipogo.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/infernetto.jpg 540w, https:\/\/manipogo.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/infernetto-300x152.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<address class=\"wp-caption-dd\">Da konnte man sich hinlegen: ein Grundst\u00fcck im Infernetto.<\/address>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Oder geh von der Stazione Termini bei 38 Grad in Richtung Piazza Barberini, und die im Schatten stehenden Leute werden dir vorkommen wie Hadesbewohner, ungl\u00fcckliche Gefangene, die ihre irdischen Erinnerungen im Schatten zu vergessen trachten. Trotzdem ist es wie ein gl\u00e4serner Traum. Darum auch beginnt mein Roman \u00bbM\u00f6rderisches Rom\u00ab (2007) in einem fast menschenleeren Rom, in dem man zur Mittagszeit die Kirchenglocken h\u00f6rt, weil kein Auto f\u00e4hrt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Ferdinand Gregorovius schreibt in seinem Buch <em>Geschichte der Stadt Rom im Mittelalter<\/em>, im Jahr 546 habe der Gote Totila die Stadt verw\u00fcstet, Senatoren und Frauen verschleppt und dem Volk befohlen, die Stadt zu verlassen, und \u00bbnach dieser Ver\u00f6dung sei Rom mehr als 40 Tage lang so verlassen gewesen, dass nur Tiere zu sehen waren, aber keine menschliche Seele darin verweilte.\u00ab<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<dl class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 550px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/manipogo.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/appiaantica2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-165\" title=\"appiaantica2\" src=\"https:\/\/manipogo.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/appiaantica2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/manipogo.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/appiaantica2.jpg 540w, https:\/\/manipogo.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/appiaantica2-300x183.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<address class=\"wp-caption-dd\">Die Appia antica.<\/address>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Viel sp\u00e4ter, nach dem normannischen Brand im 12. Jahrhundert, \u00bbver\u00f6deten die H\u00fcgel mehr und mehr; die wuchernde Kraft des S\u00fcdens \u00fcberdeckte sie mit Pflanzenwuchs; ehemalige Stadtviertel wurden zu Feldern, und fieberhafte S\u00fcmpfe breiteten sich in den Niederungen aus, und dort, in Gassenlabyrinthen, welche Schutthaufen, zertr\u00fcmmerte Marmortempel und Monumente unterbrachen, sa\u00df das wilde Volk der R\u00f6mer.\u00ab Heute sitzt es in drangvoller Enge am Meer von Terracina bis Civitavecchia, und dann schleicht es erhitzt in die Ferienwohnung, bis es Zeit ist, zur Pizzeria zu gehen.
