Die Stille des Abends und der Nacht wird durch kein Ger\u00e4usch unterbrochen, und es scheint, als hielte auch die Zeit in ihrem Lauf inne und st\u00fcrbe gemeinsam mit dem Arzt \u00fcber dem Buch, und es ist, als g\u00e4be es nichts auf der Welt als dieses Buch und die Lampe mit dem gr\u00fcnen Schirm. Die groben b\u00e4urischen Gesichtsz\u00fcge des Arztes werden allm\u00e4hlich durch ein ger\u00fchrtes L\u00e4cheln erhellt, das der Begeisterung f\u00fcr die Leistungen des menschlichen Verstandes gilt.\u00ab (<em>Anton Tschechow, Krankensaal sechs)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00bbAm Feierabend rette ich mich, sagte Salvatore, in die Prosa wie auf eine Insel. Den ganzen Tag \u00fcber sitze ich inmitten der L\u00e4rmflut der Redaktion, am Abend aber setze ich \u00fcber auf eine Insel, und wenn ich anfange, die ersten S\u00e4tze zu lesen, so kommt es mir jedesmal vor, als rudere ich weit auf das Wasser hinaus.\u00ab (<em>W.
